Mechanical Design Engineer
Engineering Consultant
With curiosity in science and engineering, I worked hard on all science courses and graduated with honours from University of Toronto with Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc.) and Master of Engineering (MEng.) degrees in mechanical engineering. During my undergraduate study, my focuses were solid mechanics design and mechatronics while during graduate study, I did a lot of research on air systems and energy efficiency.
I’m currently an energetic, ambitious and motivated Mechanical Engineer working in a construction consulting company and in charge of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system design for commercial and residential buildings. I feel that I’m working in a field closely related to people’s daily life and I am enjoying and proud of doing so.
When I was a young child, I was always curious about the mechanisms behind all mechanical systems in our daily life. It could be as complicated as the working principle of a turbine and also could be as simple as how to fold the tip of a retractable ballpoint pen. As an experienced engineer, my father explained the science behind all these different mechanisms to me simply and patiently. As my first mentor, he has a very large impact on my future studying and career paths. Till now, I realised how important STEM education is to a young child. I have been lucky to have amazing mentors in the past years and I always hope that I can be a mentor who can inspire young children in their early education as well. I always try my best to understand all my student’s needs, make lessons interesting and attractive hence to lead them achieving their goals.
